Authentic fish fossil
Naturally preserved in layered limestone, fish fossils are unique in size and shape. These specimens of Knightia - a fish closely related to herring - thrived in the Green River region of Wyoming around 55 million years ago, in a subtropical climate. They perished when volcanic eruptions and earthquakes suddenly dried up the inland seas in which they lived.
