Is a reservation required?

Yes. Reservations are made online at https://bookeo.com/cristaldulac/During peak season, we recommend booking at least one week in advance. The excursion is offered from June 13th to Labour Day (early September).

How long does the excursion last?

Allow 2 hours 30 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes.

What's the fare ?

From what age can you participate?

The excursion is reserved for those aged 8 and over. Younger children can enjoy the Mineralogy Activity Centre during this time.

Is the trail difficult? Is it suitable for everyone?

This is an intermediate-level hike. Anyone in good physical condition should have no problem. However, the site is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

Will the activity take place if it rains?

Yes! The excursion takes place rain or shine—and in the rain, the crystals are even easier to spot. Only torrential rain can lead to cancellation, with a refund or rescheduling.

What happens in case of extreme weather?

If we are unable to hold the activity, we will refund or reschedule each reservation. We will notify customers as soon as possible by email, phone, or text message.

What equipment should I bring?

Closed-toe shoes are required, and we recommend clothing suitable for hiking. Please also bring water, gardening gloves, and safety glasses if you have them. If not, we sell them at the reception desk and can lend them to you on site.

Is prospecting equipment provided?

Safety helmets and basic harvesting tools are provided free of charge. For gloves and safety glasses, bring your own or purchase or borrow them from the reception desk.

How do I get to the mine site?

The departure point is at the reception area of ​​the excursion site. A short guided walk in the forest (intermediate level) leads to the deposit.

Is there drinking water and toilets on site?

Toilets are available at the visitor center, but there are none directly on the mine site. There is no drinking water on site: please bring your own (we also sell it at the visitor center).

Is there parking?

The parking lot has 25 spaces. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate large caravans.

Can I bring my pet?

No, animals are not allowed on the excursion site.

Can I return the crystals I find? Is that included in the price?

Yes! A maximum of 100 grams of crystals is included free of charge in the price of the excursion. You leave with your own finds—a unique souvenir of Lac-Saint-Jean—and, depending on the pieces you unearth, their value may even exceed the cost of your admission!

What if I make an exceptional discovery?

If you find a favorite piece or a larger quantity, you can acquire your additional specimens for an extra charge, directly at the reception desk.
