What is gold panning?

You're guaranteed to leave with real gold! Using a bag of sand containing a predetermined amount of gold, you learn to pan for gold under the guidance of a specialist and discover flakes, sometimes small nuggets, as well as several precious stones that you keep.

Where can we do the activity?

Gold panning is offered only at the Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix Mineral Activity Centre (1840, Route 169). It is not offered at our Jonquière store.

How long does the activity last?

From 15 to 60 minutes.

From what age can you participate?

The activity is for all ages, without restriction.

Do we need to book in advance?

No, no reservation is necessary. The activity is available at any time during opening hours.

How much does the activity cost?

The kits are available starting at $16 (before taxes), depending on the quantity chosen. Basic equipment is provided by Cristal du Lac.

Can gold really be found?

Yes! Each bag contains a predetermined amount of gold: you are guaranteed to leave with real gold, in addition to precious stones.

What is the 2026 schedule?

Open from Thursday to Sunday from April 17th, then 7 days a week from May 28th.
