Cristal du Lac offers 4 choices of activities for schools.
Option 1 - Excursion: Crystal Gathering. Guided hike with crystal gathering at the open-pit mine.
Option 2 - Mineralogy & Economuseums® Activity Center: During the Prospect-Express, students discover and preserve various minerals, in addition to witnessing the opening of a geode, the Lumini-Fluo workshop, and the pearl oyster workshop. (Museum visit included) (2.5 to 3 hours, lunch available on site) Capacity: 125 students
Option 3 - Crystal Lake: Crystal Prospector's Ecomuseum + Mineralogical Excursion. Visit the Ecomuseum and discover minerals from around the world and fluorescent stones. The content is adapted to the age of the groups. (60-75 min.)
Option 4 - Mobile Lake Crystal/Workshops at the school: The Prospector-Crystal Collector presents his profession and leads various workshops: Minerals of the World - From Oyster to Jewelry and Lumino-Fluo: Demonstration of phosphorescence on mineralogical specimens

Are you interested in learning more about Quartz Crystal, a regional stone, as well as its discovery and the company that exploits it? It is possible to book a tour adapted to the needs of your group. We will adjust the duration of the presentation according to your availability. Then take a moment to get a 100% regional souvenir.
Day camps, early childhood
It is possible to provide young people aged 3 and over with an initiation into mineralogy and prospecting. Activities adapted to your needs.
Fun activities that will fascinate young people while taking care to follow their child's pace. The animator will arouse their curiosity in the fascinating world of stones and during this time children aged 8 and over will discover the Crystal mine for collecting crystals.
The duration and prices will be adapted according to the number of participants and the activities chosen: Prospecting-Express, Geodes to crack, Minerals of the world and much more!
Mobile Lake Crystal
We can provide mineralogy workshops and Prospections-Express to young people directly in your facilities. We are moving!!

How to book a group outing?
Group outings are booked by email (info@cristaldulac.comor by phone (418-213-0702), at least two weeks in advance. Duration and rates are customized to your group and the activities chosen.
Is there a minimum or maximum number of participants?
For school groups, we welcome from 10 to 80 participants. We also welcome individual travellers (FIT clientele).
Do you welcome coaches?
Yes, for many years. We welcome coach groups to the Métabetchouan–Lac-à-la-Croix Mineralogy Centre, one bus at a time.
What are the group rates?
Prices are tailored to your needs, depending on the number of participants and the activities chosen. Contact us for a quote.
What activities do you offer to school groups?
Four options: 1) Mine excursion with crystal picking (guided hike); 2) Mineralogy Activity Centre and Ecomuseum — Prospecting-Express, opening of a geode, Lumino-Fluo workshop and pearl oyster workshop, museum visit included (2.5 to 3 hours, possibility to eat on site, capacity of 125 young people); 3) Crystal Prospector's Ecomuseum and mineralogical excursion, content adapted to the age (60 to 75 min); 4) Mobile Lake Crystal, workshops held directly at the school.
Are school trips recognized by the Ministry?
Yes. Our activities are approved under the Culture in Schools program (science component), and several expenses are eligible. The language and content are adapted to the students' level.
Do you offer activities for young children and day camps?
Yes. From age 3, children can enjoy a fun introduction to mineralogy and prospecting at their own pace (Prospecting-Express, cracking geodes, minerals of the world, and more). Meanwhile, children aged 8 and up can collect crystals at the mine. Duration and prices are tailored to the group.
Do you offer activities for corporate groups?
Yes. We offer a customized presentation on quartz crystal — its discovery, history and the company that uses it — the duration of which is adjusted to your availability, followed by a visit to the shop for a 100% regional souvenir.
What is Mobile Lake Crystal?
Our service comes to you: we conduct mineralogy workshops and express prospecting trips directly at your facilities. Offered in the region and elsewhere in Quebec upon request, with a minimum number of days required for longer trips.
Are group outings offered year-round?
Activities at our sites follow the Centre's season (April 17 to October 20). However, in-class school workshops (Cristal du Lac Mobile) are offered year-round.
